Jurgen Klopp compares Liverpool FC’s Mo Salah to Real Madrid star

Jurgen Klopp has moved to play down comparisons between Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Liverpool FC’s showdown with Real Madrid.

The Reds are preparing to take on the Spanish giants in the Champions League final on Saturday night as they look to try and end the campaign on a positive note.

Salah heads into the game after having enjoyed an incredible debut season at Liverpool FC following his move to the club from AS Roma last summer.

The Egypt international has netted 44 goals in all competitions for the Reds and also notched up 14 assists for his team-mates.

Salah was voted as the PFA player of the year thanks to his brilliant form and he also took home the Premier League’s golden boot this season.

However, Reds boss Klopp has moved to play down comparisons between Salah and Ronaldo, who has regularly been performing at the highest level for Real Madrid.
Klopp is quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “Mo played a fantastic season but Cristiano has played 15 seasons like this. He has scored something like 47,000 goals – crazy numbers.
“Why should we compare? At the time of Pele nobody compared Pele to other players and asked, ‘Is he as good as him?’

“Now we have Messi and Ronaldo. They have dominated football for a few years and there are so many other good players.

“Messi and Ronaldo are in the final moment very often in the right position to score a goal and that’s the most difficult thing to do in the world. That’s why they are where they are.
“The Ballon d’Or is always between them. It’s well deserved. When they stop playing football we will miss them, 100 per cent.”

Liverpool FC are aiming to beat Real Madrid to win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.

The Reds have booked their place in the Champions League for next season by securing a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League.
