INEC Rules Out Postponement Of 2019 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it won't defer the 2019 decisions in view of the postponement in the entry of its financial plan. 

INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made the elucidations while handling inquiries from State House journalists on Friday in Abuja. 

Yakubu said that there was no arrangement under the law for deferment of races. 

He said; "I have said this again and again; there are no conditions under which races ought to be put off, under segment 26 of the Electoral Act. 

"The date is shaped and settled, February 16, 2019; we issued the timetable path ahead of time; for the plain first time ever of country, nationals of Nigeria know when races will happen one year ahead of time. It has never happened. 

"Besides, for the simple first time ever of nation, nationals know the financial plan of the constituent commission; subjects know line by line how much the commission proposed; what the cash will be spent on. 

"I think I am exceptionally content with this procedure
