PDP Demands Unfreezing Of Benue, Akwa Ibom Accounts

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked acting President Yemi Osinbajo to arrange the unfreezing of the records of the administrations of Benue and Akwa Ibom states hindered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The two state governments had said on Wednesday that the counter unite body obstructed their records, an activity which has been portrayed as illegal by Abdul'aziz Yari, the administrator of the Nigeria Governors' Forum.

Representative for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, portrayed the solidifying of the records as an immediate assault on blameless Nigerians in the two states, which are controlled by the PDP.

"Nigerians are largely mindful that no area of our constitution or any law in Nigeria so far as that is concerned gives any organization of the Federal Government with forces to meddle or put any confinements on stores having a place or accruable with states as unifying units of our country," he said in explanation.

"Aside from its State Assembly, no other government body or organization has the forces of apportionment or confinements on any assets having a place with the state."
