The central government on Tuesday said it would build its ability to test for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) to 1,500 every day from the current 500 tests day by day.
The Director General of Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, expressed this on Tuesday in Abuja at the second joint national preparation of the Presidential Taskforce Force (PTF) on COVID-19, headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.
As per him, the focal point of the middle was to improve the quantity of individuals that could be tried.
He stated, "A week ago, we had the ability to test 500 every day, before the current week's over we will be at 1,000 per day. By one week from now, we are wanting to get to 1,500 every day."
Ihekweazu, in any case, said that Nigerians need to decrease the interest side of the testing to the individuals who truly required it.
He bemoaned that the more the individuals compel themselves into being tried, the less NCDC would have the ability to test the individuals who truly need the testing.
He said that while those that didn't required to be tried are taking the space for those that should have been tried, the individuals that truly need the testing would transmit it into the network including that more individuals would get tainted.
"By testing those that needn't bother with it, individuals are hindering the framework and there is a cost to pay," he said.
