Chelsea and Senegal international goalkeeper Eduoard Mendy was a surprise exclusion from the list of 2021 FIFA Ballon d'or nominees.
The 29-year-old had a monstrous debut campaign with the Blues winning the UEFA Champions League and also been named as best goalkeeper of the competition, added to several other superb performances.
However, it emerged as a major shocker that Mendy was omitted when world footballs governing body released their 30-man shortlist for this year's award and a few of his professional colleagues, notably Kalidou Koulibaly and Sadio Mane have spoken out in his defence, expressing utter shock at Mendy's omission.
