NAOS Raises Alarm Over Rising Insecurity, Student Abductions, and Targeted Killings of Christians in Nigeria

The National Association of Odùduwà Students (NAOS), the foremost Pan-Yoruba cultural and educational movement, expresses deep pain and unreserved condemnation over the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, marked by recurring abductions, killings, and the frightening escalation of targeted attacks on Christian communities and students nationwide.

In recent weeks, Nigeria has again been thrown into mourning. Nowhere has this been clearer than in Eruku community, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, where gunmen invaded a church during service, brutally killed worshippers, and abducted many others. Likewise, in Papiri community, Agwara LGA of Niger State, armed men stormed St. Mary’s Catholic School, kidnapping pupils, students, teachers, and a security guard. These attacks are not coincidental, they represent a pattern of direct assaults on Christians, churches, and Christian-owned schools, carried out boldly and without consequence.

NAOS views these atrocities as premeditated attacks on the nation’s moral fabric and a direct affront to Nigeria’s religious and educational foundations. When Christian worshippers cannot gather safely in church, and when Catholic students are taken from their classrooms by force, it is clear that Nigeria is drifting toward a full-scale security collapse.

The continuous invasion of schools by bandits and terrorists equally represents an assault on the country’s future. Education, our greatest tool for national development cannot flourish in an environment where fear replaces learning. A nation where students are abducted and parents are left in anguish cannot claim peace or progress.

In light of this worsening crisis, NAOS makes the following urgent demands:

1. Launch of a national rescue operation to ensure the swift and safe return of all abducted students, teachers, and worshippers. The government must demonstrate that the lives of Nigerian children and citizens are non-negotiable.

2. Immediate reinforcement of security around schools and places of worship nationwide, with special focus on high-risk communities. This must include armed patrols, rapid-response units, and community-linked intelligence networks.

3. Arrest, prosecution, and public naming of all individuals, sponsors, and collaborators behind these attacks. Negotiations, ransom payments, and silent settlements must stop. Terrorists should face justice not negotiations.

Federal Government should stop pampering the Vampire, dirty looking Animals called Bandits or Iswap , Boko aram, the religious sentiments should be totally set aside , those killers and kidnappers shouldn't be call Muslims brothers for any reasons,  they are Animals and should be treated as Animals and Terrorists,  enough is enough. 

Someone who doesn't have education,  who doesn't not know the importance of education,  has the boldness to kidnap Students and killed Students what a shame on the Government.

Those behind negotiation with bandits are terrorists,  they should be arrested and prosecuted,

NAOS is calling all the Royal Fathers in Nigeria starting from His Imperial Majesty, Adeyeye Ogunwusi the Oni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Akeem Owoade the Alaafin of Oyo,  His Imperial Majesty Oba Rasheed Ladoja the Olubadan of Ibadan land, the Alake of Egbe Land, Owa Obokun, Deji of Akure and all other great Yoruba Royal Fathers , it's time to rise to rescue our Nation,  the Royal Fathers should have serious meetings with the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria and find solutions to terrorism in Nigeria,  your kingdoms must be protected. 

We also call on those who has what it takes to protect their territory should wake us, this situation need everyone contributions,  let's come out to protect our land, the terrorists are not more than us, let's equip ourselves for self defense.

The Spiritual Fathers who has been speaking against Terrorism in Nigeria shouldn't not keep quiet,  the likes of Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church and others should speak up the more, there is hope for Peace to reign again in Nigeria.

We are more than the terrorists in Nigeria,  lets show up in all angles.

NAOS further calls on the Federal Government, National Assembly, and all security agencies to act with urgency, transparency, and accountability. Nigeria must no longer tolerate the killing and kidnapping of Christians, nor allow schools to become hunting grounds for criminals. The time for speeches has passed; what is needed now is decisive action.

We stand firmly with the families of victims in Eruku, Papiri, and all affected communities across Nigeria. We reaffirm that the protection of lives and property remains the first constitutional duty of any government. Anything less is unacceptable.

NAOS will continue to raise its voice, mobilize its structures, and defend the rights and safety of all Nigerians. Enough is enough. Nigeria must rise to protect her people.
