Tinubu in Kenya for France-Africa economic meeting

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday arrived in Nairobi, Kenya  ahead of the Africa-France Summit scheduled to hold between today and tomorrow in the East African country.

The President ’s aircraft  landed   at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, at about 12.15am local time and  was received by  Nigerian and Kenyan government officials.

Among them were the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele; Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaye; Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala ; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed  and the Nigerian Ambassador to France, Ambassador Ayodele Oke.

The President is in Nairobi to participate in the Africa-France Summit co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto.

The summit, themed: “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” is expected to deliberate on key issues affecting the continent, including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms of the global financing architecture.

President Tinubu’s participation is expected to  underscore Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African countries and France, while projecting the administration’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria as a preferred investment destination.

Tinubu is in Kenya as part of his ongoing three-nation diplomatic tour which began on Sunday with his departure from Abuja for France, Kenya and Rwanda.

The President departed Abuja on May 3.

After  the Nairobi engagement, Tinubu is expected to proceed to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to May 15.
