US bans foreigners from traveling to America solely to give birth

The US government, under the Trump administration, has revoked hundreds of visas after uncovering organized birth tourism networks operating across West Africa and Europe.

Officials discovered a major West African ring involving over 100 people who allegedly used fake documents and visa fixers to travel to the United States specifically to give birth and secure American citizenship for their children. 

In Europe, over 400 suspected cases linked to at least six companies were also identified.

The crackdown has triggered heightened scrutiny for Nigerian and other West African applicants, especially pregnant women, with consular officers now empowered to deny visas if birth tourism is suspected. No arrests have been announced so far.
