The police Lagos State Police Command has uncovered an illegal blood bank allegedly run by one Paul Achegbulu in Barigan area.
The suspect, 45, was arrested in his one-room apartment by a team of policemen led by Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal.
It was gathered that Achegbulu allegedly collected blood from children there for sale to some clinics.
The suspect, according to residents, was caught after he collected two pints of blood from  a 17-year-old boy, Ayomide Adesanya, who passed out.
It was also learned that the suspect had earlier drawn two pints of blood from the same victim on 4 June after collecting N2,000 from him.
“Adesanya became weak after donating four pints of blood. He collapsed and is currently receiving treatment at the Bariga Hospital,” the police chief told journalists.
“The mother told us that the daughter’s friend informed them of Adesanya’s condition after she saw him on a bike.”

However, the suspect claimed he did not know Adesanya was underage, adding that the victim told him he was 20.
