Again, Buhari Rejects Four National Assembly Bills

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday declined consent to four bills sent to him by the National Assembly.

This was made known in a letter to the National Assembly and read by Senate President Bukola Saraki.

The bills incorporated: The National Child Protection and Enforcement Agency (Establishment) Bill, 2018.

"The basis for declining consent incorporates all the proposed obligations and duties of the proposed organization are at present the statutory duties of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.

"The making of the NCPEA may prompt the duplication of orders of Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), which would bring about the wastage of rare money related and different assets," Buhari composed.

"Furthermore, The courts and Tribunals (Standard Scale of Fines) Bill of 2017

"In particular, you may wish to take note of that the proposed standard size of fines has all the earmarks of being vague, as it doesn't unmistakably express the way by which any given offense will fall under a specific level on the scale.

"The proposed size of fines may struggle with existing punishments and fines under surviving laws which as of now force punishments and fines for different offenses. This may bring about perplexity.

"As the Naira's esteem is dynamic, a settled size of fines may weaken the simplicity of future survey of Nigerian laws setting out punishments and fines for offenses," as per the letter.
