Brazilian appeals court has ordered the release of ex-president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva who has been jailed since April for corruption.
The 72-year-old was convicted of accepting a seaside apartment as a bribe from Brazilian construction company OAS.
But in a surprise ruling on Sunday, the court said he could now be released within hours.
Da Silva, it was gathered, has been battling to secure his freedom as he hopes to launch another presidential bid in elections in October.
