PDP expels Kashamu, three others

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday ousted Senator Kashamu Buruji for hostile to party exercises.

Buruji (Ogun East) was ousted alongside his assciates – Semiu Sodipo, Adebayo Dayo and Segun Seriki – all individuals from the Ogun State section.

PDP National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan declared the removal after the gathering's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

Ologbondiyan said the NEC took "the disciplinary activity against its individuals who have been fraternizing with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in ways that were hindering to the enthusiasm of the PDP".

The NEC meeting was directed by National Chairman Uche Secondus. It was gone to by party chieftains over the six geopolitical zones, including the National Assembly gathering, serving and previous governors, previous priests, past important officers of the National Assembly and individuals from the Board of Trustees (BoT).

In a quick response the previous evening, the congressperson said his ejection can't stand.

In an announcement the previous evening, Kashamu stated: "My consideration has been attracted to the indicated choice taken by the National Executive Committee (NEC) professedly ousting me and alternate chieftains of the Ogun State section of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the gathering.

"It is obvious from the not recommended choice that the Secondus-drove National Working Committee is untamed and undemocratic. No due procedure was taken after as cherished in the constitution of the gathering. Since the underlying 30-day suspension passed on January 9, 2018, they don't have any privilege to make any disciplinary move against me. This choice can't stand since Article 57 (6) of the PDP Constitution says 'Any choice taken against a part who has not been educated of the charges against him or has not been given any chance of shielding himself will be invalid and void'".

He included: "Also, there are no under two suits testing my underlying suspension. The first is Suit No. FHC/L/ABJ/CS/1254/2017 between Senator Buruji Kashamu Vs. PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, the National Secretary and INEC before the Honorable Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
