Governors Accepted To Pay N30,000 Minimum Wage, Says NLC

Leader of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) Ayuba Wabba on Friday cautioned state governors against their refusal to pay the proposed national the lowest pay permitted by law of N30,000. 

A tripartite board, involving government authorities, delegates of the sorted out work and those of the composed private segment, had suggested N30,000 as national the lowest pay permitted by law. 

In any case, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum, Governor Abdulaziz Yari, said there was no chance governors could stand to pay N30,000 as laborers' lowest pay permitted by law. 

Notwithstanding, addressing writers on Friday in Ekiti state, Wabba demanded that there was no backpedaling on the N30,000 as against the current N18,000. 

He said that governors had no motivation to decrease to pay the wage, including that they (governors) were a piece of the basic leadership process. 

"Six of the governors speaking to each geopolitical zone were a piece of this basic leadership process; the N30,000 was not a work request, it was even a trade off position," the NLC pioneer said. 

He further said that "laborers ought to be steadfast; we have told specialists, beneficiaries, and their wards not to cast a ballot or bolster any senator who declines to pay the lowest pay permitted by law."
