ASUU strike continues as lecturers meeting with FG ends with no agreement

Another gathering between the government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) finished on Monday night without a prompt goals of the progressing strike.

The gathering which held at the Federal Ministry of Labor base camp was to locate an enduring answer for the continuous strike by the college teachers.

No less than six different gatherings host been held between the two gatherings previously Monday's since the strike initiated on November 4.

He said government has discharged N163 billion from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) to fulfill a portion of the requests of ASUU.

"Today we have consented to finance revitalisation. Government has discharged from TETFUND account about N163 billion. The gathering will reconvene at the example of ASUU. FG isn't frail in the transaction. The strike isn't slipping out of our hands," he said.

"We didn't take quite a while than we foreseen. We have different responsibilities yet interestingly, we have gained generous ground. We have achieved a few understandings in seven territories," he said.

As indicated by Mr Ngige, a large portion of the issues have been settled yet ASUU should counsel its individuals and accompany what they think.

In the interim, the national leader of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, said the gathering finished with hazy areas to be settled.

"We have not suspended the strike, exchange will proceed at a later date. We are returning to our individuals for further meeting," he said.

Mr Ogunyemi said before the strike can be suspended, the administration must address the issue of revitalisation.

"Revitilisation is key to our scholarly work. Except if that territory is tended to, our individuals will even now have issues. We are not requesting for N50 billion, we are stating that the base that FG can discharge to reactivate revitalisation support is N50 billion," he said.

The association set out on the strike on November 4 over the poor subsidizing of Nigerian colleges and non-execution of past assentions by the administration.
