Rennes 3 Arsenal 1: Sarr leaves Gunners on the brink after Sokratis red card

Ismaila Sarr scored in the 89th moment to seal a 3-1 win for Rennes more than 10-man Arsenal, who are in threat of Europa League end.

Munititions stockpile are in genuine risk of being dispensed with from the last 16 of the Europa League after Nacho Monreal's very own objective and a late Ismaila Sarr header in the second half verified Rennes a merited 3-1 succeed at Roazhon Park.

The Gunners appeared to make a beeline for London with a functional 2-1 rout in the wake of having Sokratis Papastathopoulos sent off in the main half, yet Sarr's emotional late objective put light between the sides to leave Arsenal apparently on the verge.

Everything began so well for Unai Emery's men when Alex Iwobi's to some degree chance early exertion gave them an away objective that may yet demonstrate conclusive.

The positive sentiment did not last as Sokratis was given his walking orders for two yellow cards, and Benjamin Bourigeaud got a dazzling equalizer because of the second offense.

The home side looked urgent to benefit as much as possible from their numerical leeway and the weight satisfied, as Monreal avoided a cross into the objective and Sarr adjusted off a splendid exhibition with a decided plunging header.

The good feeling did not last as Sokratis was given his marching orders for two yellow cards, and Benjamin Bourigeaud netted a stunning equaliser as a result of the second offence.

The home side looked desperate to make the most of their numerical advantage and the pressure paid off, as Monreal deflected a cross into the goal and Sarr rounded off a brilliant performance with an emphatic diving header.

It took Arsenal just three minutes to break the deadlock, as Iwobi cut into the left side of the area and saw an apparent low cross curl in off the right-hand post.

But Rennes were back in it late in the half.

Sokratis cynically hauled Sarr down when seemingly through on goal to earn a second booking in the space of seven minutes, and Bourigeaud brilliantly found the top-right corner with a stinging half-volley when the subsequent free-kick came back off the wall.

Rennes stepped things up after the break and crafted a string of chances – Petr Cech denying goal-bound efforts from Bourigeaud and Sarr.

Cech was helpless in the 65th minute, however, as Mehdi Zeffane's cross took a wicked touch off Monreal and squeezed inside the near post.

Sarr finished Arsenal off two minutes from time, meeting substitute James Lea Siliki's sublime cross at the back post with a fine diving header.
