Chelsea Footballer, Danny Drinkwater charged with drink-driving.

Chelsea's Danny Drinkwater has been accused of beverage driving after an episode in the Cheshire town of Mere, close Knutsford, police have said.

In an announcement Cheshire police stated: "A 29-year-old from Nether Alderley has been accused of beverage driving after an occurrence in Cheshire.

"Danny Drinkwater, of Bollington Lane, was captured not long after 12.30am on Monday 8 April following a one-vehicle impact on Ashley Road in Mere.

"He has been discharged on unlimited safeguard and is set to show up at Stockport judges court on Monday 13 May."

Drinkwater has not played any aggressive football for Chelsea this season, despite the fact that he showed up for thirty minutes as a second-half substitute in last August's Community Shield
