Remorseful ‘yahoo boy’ sentenced to six months imprisonment

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Ilorin Zonal Office has verified the conviction of one Ogundele Adeseye, 24, who was re-summoned on a one-tally altered charge verging on web extortion.

He was indicted by Justice Babangana Ashigar of a Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on April 10, 2019 after he argued "liable" to the charge, following a request deal understanding.

He was recently summoned on a five-tally charge, which was later altered to one tally after request deal understanding was come to.

The charge peruses:

In his request, Ogundele stated,

"My master, I have took in my exercises, I have understood that wrongdoing and guiltiness isn't great, I am begging your lordship to temper equity with benevolence."

In condemning him, the preliminary judge held there was a need to authorize judgment that will fill in as an impediment to would-be web fraudsters.

"As per supplication deal understanding, I thus convict the litigant and sentence him to a half year detainment," he said.

Ogundele, in any case, busted into tears when he was being directed to Mandala Prisons by the jail authorities.
