Abule Egba Pipeline Explosion: 2 feared dead, about 200 houses razed

Two people were dreaded dead, and around 200 houses bulldozed in different pipeline blasts in the Abule Egba territory of Lagos State the previous evening.

As indicated by reports, the fire, which began around Ile-Epo transport stop at around 8 pm, was said to have spread to Abule-Egba, Fagba and Ekoro streets.

In a quick response, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Mr Gbenga Omotoso stated:

"A pipeline fire has been accounted for at Abule-Egba. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other security/crisis offices have enacted their hardware to battle the fire."

LASEMA reaction groups and other specialists on call were assembled.

Occupants were seen escaping their homes as the fire lit up the night sky, The Nation reports.

Those living a far distance said they were keeping vigil and prepared to escape should the fire reach out to their zones.

Lagos State Fire Service Public Affairs Officer, Jamiu Dosunmu, said three fire stations in Agege, Abesan and Alausa were engaging to control the fire.

It was found out that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Ogun State shut down the line to lessen the power of the shoot.

The reason for the fire couldn't be quickly affirmed, yet occupants presume pipeline vandalism.
