Ajaokuta Steel Plant Presidential Project Implementation Team, a Welcome Development- NCCC

The leadership of the North Central Citizens Council (NCCC) wish to appreciate the federal government of Nigeria for inaugurating the Presidential Team on the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta Iron and Steel Company.

The leadership of the Association ably led by the Coordinator, Comrade Mohammed Eneji referred to this move made by the Government as timely as the country is in a serious need of diversification of her economy hence the inauguration of this Committee, we have a strong confidence in the team and the Chairman who is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mistapha haven performed creditably well in the on going fight against Covid 19, we believe that He and his team will deliver by giving a clear blueprint on how to revive the company.

The Ajaokuta Steel plant has languished in economic unproductivity for about four decades, and previous efforts at reviving it had proved abortive. This has resulted in avoidable massive foreign exchange losses at intolerable opportunity cost to the country.

We wish to commend the Kogi State Government ably led by Governor Yahaya Bello for being a catalyst to the realization of this project as We believe that the revival of Ajaokuta steel  will not just make it West Africa’s largest fully integrated steel producer but accelerate industrialisation in steel-related industries within Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.
