There were strong signs on Wednesday that some state governments were on an effect course with the Federal Government over their understudies' enthusiasm for the 2020 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.

Examinations by The PUNCH exhibited that six South-West states, Ebonyi and Cross River states had started preparing to audit their understudies fully expecting the appraisal.

The plan refutes the decision of the Federal Government, which after the Federal Executive Council meeting on July 8, said it had suspended the course of action to survey graduating understudies for WASSCE.

On Monday, there was disorder over the resumption as the Federal Ministry of Education gave rules for the resuscitating of schools, yet fail to show the resumption date.

Before the Federal Government's decision at the July 8 FEC meeting, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, at the PTF open meeting on June 29, had expressed, "Understudies in graduating classes – simply graduating classes; Primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS3 – will be allowed to proceed fully expecting appraisals."

Amidst the chaos at the bureaucratic level, some state governments on Wednesday began courses of action for their understudies to sit for WASSCE.
