AYDC congratulate Kenyan President-Elect

Amb. Abdmumeen Ibraheem, Continental President Africa Youth Development Congress AYDC congratulate Kenyan Vice President, William Ruto, as he's  officially declared winner of the country’s presidential election.

With the declaration, the Vice President defeated his principal, President Raila Odinga, who also contested the election, Daily Post reports. However, the report added that there are kicks in some quarters over the outcome of the election. Some commissioners (Ministers) rejected the results of the election amid controversy which is still trailing the keenly contested poll.

Despite that, the Chairman of the country’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Wafula Chebukati, defied all odds and declared the results of the poll on Monday. Going by the declaration by Chebukati, Ruto won almost 7.18 million votes which represent about 50.49 percent of the votes cast. On the other hand, the incumbent President Odinga polled 6.94 million votes which represents about 48.85 percent of the votes.

The keenly  contested election took place on August 9. Collation of results, counting of ballots and other processes had to take place prompting the delay in the announcement of the results. But that has now been done with the result revealing that the President lost to his Vice despite the rejections from some of the top officials of the government. It is the court that can settle post-election-related cases. This case may be decided in court if the President decides to contest the result there.

AYDC urge the President-Elect to be steadfast in reviving the country economy, industrialization and Youth Empowerment. Amb. Abdmumeen urge him a rewarding tenure and wishes all Kenya the best.
