Gunmen kill 50-year-old man in Benue community

Gunmen have shot dead a 50-year-old man, Alhaji Sadauna, during an attack on Gbajimba village in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the attackers invaded the community at about 10 am on Saturday, assaulted the victim, and fled immediately after the incident.

One of the sources said troops of Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), based in Gbajimba, were promptly alerted and moved to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the soldiers discovered that Alhaji Sadauna had already been killed by the assailants,” the source said.

The source added that the troops immediately pursued the gunmen along suspected escape routes but were unable to make contact with them.

It was further gathered that the soldiers secured the area before evacuating the victim’s body and handing it over to officers of the Nigeria Police at the Gbajimba Police Division.

Security sources said efforts are ongoing to identify, track, and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
