Scotland pull out of friendly match with Norway ahead of FWC

Norwegian FA chiefs have confirmed that Scotland pulled out of a behind-closed-doors friendly with Norway ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The two nations were reportedly set to face off in an unofficial 'training game' on Monday, June 8th, but the match will no longer go ahead.

A member of the Norwegian FA's media team said that the Scots withdrew from the friendly over injury concerns.

"Today, we learned that Scotland unfortunately had to withdraw from the agreement due to injuries," media manager Morten Morisbak Skjonsberg said.

"Instead, we will train at Greensboro."

Norway manager Stale Solbakken admitted he will now alter his plans ahead of the World Cup.

"The cancellation means I will make more changes in our game against Morocco.

"The idea of playing Scotland was that we could get some minutes in the legs of the guys who don't play in the Morocco game."

Scotland star Billy Gilmour recently had to pull out of their World Cup squad after getting injured in a 4-1 win over Curacao, although manager Steve Clarke said that there were no fresh injury concerns after their 4-0 victory against Bolivia in their final pre-World Cup friendly.
