Previous Nigeria President Shehu Shagari, who was ousted by the then senior military officer Muhammadu Buhari in 1983, has passed away at 93 years old. 

His grandson, Bello Shagari, declared his demise on the smaller scale blogging website, Twitter, on Friday evening. 

As indicated by Bello, the previous President passed on after a short sickness at the National Hospital in Abuja, Nigeria's capital. 

"I lament declaring the passing of my granddad, H.E Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who kicked the bucket right now after brief ailment at the National doctor's facility, Abuja," he tweeted. 

Shagari vanquished Obafemi Awolowo in 1979 to end up Nigeria's President. He was President from 1979 to 1983.
