Joe Biden inaugurated as 46th U.S. president, calls for national unity amid bitter division.

Kamala Harris is sworn in as vice president of the United States. She is the first woman and the first person of Black and South Asian descent to hold the office.

"Today, on this January day, my whole soul is in this, bringing America together and uniting our people, and uniting our nation, and I ask every American to join me in this cause," President Joe Biden says.

President Biden ’s message to those who didn't support him in the election: “Hear me out as we move forward… I pledge this to you: I will be a president for all Americans, all Americans. And I promise you I will fight as hard for those who did not support me as for those who did"

Trump leaves Washington , skips incoming president Biden's inauguration.

He's the first sitting president since 1869 to be absent from the incoming president's swearing-in ceremony.

Trump said it was his "greatest honor and privilege to have been your president," while wishing the incoming administration of Biden, whom he didn't mention by name, "good luck," claiming that "they have the foundation to do something really spectacular."
